There’s no single number for antifouling cost in Malta — it depends on your boat and its hull. Here’s what actually goes into a quote, so you know what you’re paying for.
What Goes Into an Antifouling Quote
A typical quote covers haul-out, hull washdown, sanding or prep work, the antifouling paint itself, and application. Some boats need extra prep before a single coat goes on, which is where quotes start to vary.
Boat Size and Hull Condition
Bigger boats need more paint and more labour, so size is the first factor. Condition matters just as much. A hull with old, flaking paint takes longer to prepare than one that’s already in good shape. That prep time adds to the final price.

Paint Type: Budget vs Premium
Antifouling paint ranges widely in price. Budget options cost less upfront but often need reapplying sooner. Premium systems, like the Seajet and CMP ranges we use, cost more per litre but tend to last longer — which can make them cheaper over a few seasons.
Extra Work That Can Add to the Price
Some jobs turn up surprises. Osmosis blisters, old antifouling that needs stripping back to bare gelcoat, or damage found during haul-out can all add to the original quote. A good yard will flag this before starting, not after.
