How much antifouling does your boat need?

Enter your boat’s size and hull material, choose a Seajet antifouling, and get an estimate of the litres you need – including primer if your hull needs it.

Your estimate

Enter your boat’s length and beam to see how much paint you need.

An estimate only, rounded up to the nearest half litre, in 2.5 L and 0.75 L tins. It uses Seajet’s published coverage rates, less 15% for roller and brush losses. Keel shape, hull condition and application method all change the real figure – ask us to confirm before you buy. For catamarans, send us the dimensions and we’ll work it out for you.

How it works

Rather we did it for you? We supply the paint and apply it – see our antifouling service.

How is the amount of antifouling worked out?

First the wetted surface area – the part of the hull below the waterline – is estimated from the boat’s length and beam. That area is divided by the paint’s coverage per litre, then multiplied by the number of coats.

How many coats of antifouling do I need?

Two full coats is standard, with an extra coat on the areas that wear fastest: the waterline, the leading edges of the keel and rudder. A new or bare hull also needs a primer system first.

Why should I check the estimate before buying?

Keel shape, skegs, hull condition and how the paint is applied all change the real amount. We’re happy to check the figure for your boat and confirm the right product and tin sizes.
